Stacy Smith

Stacy is CEO of the HER centre, a small local women’s charity providing services to women and girls in Greenwich. At the HER Centre Stacy has built up a small local women’s charity to provide a high-quality service for over 1000 women a year who have experienced abuse as well as providing another 500 plus women with training and activities. Stacy has worked for small front-line charities, for housing associations and a local council funding charities, so understands both sides of the funding relationship.

Why I’m involved

My work in charities over 45 years has taught me that people who need support are often very articulate and informed but struggle to be heard by those in power. We need to listen to people who want to speak out and address their concerns around poverty, housing and the environment. I would like to see this board encourage real user involvement in both commissioning and monitoring charity effectiveness. I would also like to see women’s services supported to access more funding for work with women, funding smaller women’s providers.
